You can have a free Atkins diet plan if you follow the basic premise of this diet. A free Atkins diet plan is available at many online sites that have diets for you to choose, from. The Atkins diet is based on the premise that you will lose weight if you cut out the carbohydrates from your diet and focus on eating a diet rich in protein and fat. There are four phases to this diet plan, which starts with the Induction phase. In the first two weeks of the diet plan, you eliminate all carbohydrates from your diet and concentrate on eating foods such as meat, poultry, eggs, cheese, and fish. During the first phase of the Atkins diet you are not permitted to eat bread, crackers, vegetables or fruit. Most people realize a substantial weight loss after this phase.

The second phase of the Atkins plan is the ongoing weight loss phase. During this phase you continue to include as much protein as possible in your diet and gradually reintroduce foods that contain carbohydrates. The plan is designed to help you lose weight on a regular basis and if you notice that you reach a plateau while on the diet, you simply start eliminating some of the carbohydrates you have started eating again. As soon as you start to lose weight again, then you know that this is the level of carbohydrates that will help you to keep losing weight on the diet plan.

When you reach your desired weight by following the Atkins diet, then you start the maintenance phase where you eat regular foods and continue to remain at the desired weight. This diet plan helps you to maintain a healthy weight for as long as you continue to monitor your diet and carbohydrate intake. As with any diet plan, you have to exercise on a regular basis and drink plenty of water.
