Al Roker on Obesity and Stomach Surgery
Al Roker has long been known as a personality, weatherman, celebrity, and broadcaster on NBC. He has also written books, founded a business, and raised a family. Raised in Queens, NY, Roker has hosted cooking shows, weather reports, technology updates, celebrity interviews, and parenting tips on NBC. For his work on television, he has won ten Emmy awards and is considered one of the most recognizable and best-liked weathermen on television. His success in television has lead Roker to lead parades and appear at celebrity charity events. His celebrity has also allowed Al to enjoy success as an author of best-selling books such as “Don't Make Me Stop This Car: Adventures in Fatherhood”, “Al Roker's Big Bad Book of Barbecue” and “Al Roker's Hassle_Free Holiday Cookbook.” Roker has also founded and developed the company “Al Roker Productions, Inc” a multimedia company which has produced many well–received weather and food shows.
More recently, Roker has become more well-known for speaking out about obesity and about his well-publicized battle with weight loss. A few years ago, Roker underwent gastric bypass surgery and spoke frankly to television viewers about obesity and about stomach stapling surgery. Roker lost more than one hundred pounds through surgery and began to report on the trend for bypass surgery in the country.
