Developing a Gastric Bypass Menu

A gastric bypass menu can help you after obesity surgery to lose
weight, stay healthy, and make the lifestyle changes you need to make.
Developing an eating plan needs to be a key priority after gastric bypass
surgery. This does not need to be a complex menu plan that includes
complicated recipes and precisely measured foods. Creating an eating menu
to follow after your obesity surgery is easier than you may think:

1) Start thinking about your menu before your surgery. List all the
foods you like now and eat now. List all the foods you hate and never
eat. List all the healthy foods you like that you could eat more of.
List what is important to you in eating - is it convenience? Being able
to eat out? Keep these lists - they will help you create a meal plan
you can live with after surgery.

2) Consult with your doctor and a nutritionist before and after gastric
bypass surgery to talk about the menu you will be expected to follow
after surgery. You will want to develop an eating plan with the help of
a nutritionist or doctor. Bring your lists so that you can create a
menu plan that you like. You will need to give up some foods, but you
should still have an eating plan that does not leave you deprived.

3) Know that eating after gastric bypass surgery may be quite different
than what you are used to. You will need to eat small portions, and
your menu may bar certain foods. Some foods may make you feel unwell
after surgery, so you may have to remove these from your eating plan as
well. Keeping your meal plan flexible will let you make the transition.
