Gastric bypass prices vary widely, with high prices reaching $40 000,
$50 000 or even more, and some companies advertising “discount” gastric
bypass surgery for less than $10 000. There are several factors that
affect the investment of gastric bypass surgery:

1) The surgeon. A surgeon who has many years of experience with gastric
bypass surgery and is a member in good standing with The American
Society of Bariatic Surgeons will cost more than a doctor qualified for
gastric bypass surgery only by a weekend course. A good doctor, though, is
an investment that will help ensure a good surgery experience. You
don’t want to pay less for a doctor only to end up paying a higher overall
cost because of surgery complications. On the other hand, if your
doctor is expensive because they have worked with celebrities, then the
extra expenses may not be worth it to you.

2) The facility. Specialized bariatic equipment is an investment a
clinic or hospital has to make in order to keep patients safe during
surgery. The equipment increases the expenses that the patient must pay for,
but a facility without this equipment is not always a great place to
get surgery done - the equipment needed to keep the patient safe may
simply not be there. On the other hand, extra facility frills - such as
designer rooms or spa facilities - do drive the costs of surgery up as
well. You can avoid these extras and keep expenses down while still
staying safe in surgery.

3) The location. Getting gastric bypass surgery done some countries
costs less. If you decide to keep expenses down by having surgery in
another country, check doctor credentials, clinic facilities, and the
overall costs of transportation whether deciding that the price of surgery
